alright. here’s the break down of what i think the previous anons were getting at:
“prude-shaming” does not bear the same painful implications of “slut-shaming.” there’s no way the two are equal in that.
slut-shaming wrongly justifies heinous, violent acts, degrades women, especially, and perpetuates the gendered double-standard.
you’re absolutely right in calling me out on the language that’s being used here.
i’ve personally experienced the teasing that’s associated with being what some people call “prude” or a “late-bloomer,” but i would never say that that teasing is the same as the outright degradation that some convey in slut-shaming.
i think the most important thing to bear in mind with this discussion — and thank you for calling me out on my previous possibly too-quick responses — is that we’re all here to encourage Choice in all aspects of life.
